Old Field's Barbecue
Old Field's Barbecue in Huntington Village is a BBQ gem that's worth revisiting. You place your order at the counter, where the menu is displayed prominently, and then find a seat with a numbered marker. A server then comes by to take your drink orders, allowing you to relax and enjoy the atmosphere while your food is prepared.
The standout dishes for me were the creamy and flavorful mac and cheese, unlike anything I've tasted before, and the tender, perfectly smoked brisket that melted in my mouth. The chicken was juicy and the ribs were so tender they practically fell off the bone.
However, there were a few disappointments that I wouldn't recommend. Although I didn't personally try the pulled pork, some in my group found it a bit dry and fatty. Similarly, the grilled broccoli tossed in garlic and lemon sauce was described as having a spicy and earthy flavor that didn't appeal to me, so I skipped it altogether. Something I was looking forward to which led to the biggest letdown was the cornbread, which was dry and lacked any distinct flavor.
I'm looking forward to returning to Old Field's Barbecue to try their sweet potato mash with candied pecans, along with other meat options. Additionally, our waiter spoke highly of the Whistle Pig Bourbon Bread Pudding, so that's definitely on my to-try list for next time!
