Rolo's

At Rolo’s in Ridgewood, the dining experience was a rollercoaster of flavors and textures that left me with mixed feelings. The ‘Calabrian chili butter polenta bread’ delivered an amazing texture and just the right amount of spice to excite the taste buds. The ‘cheesy potato croquettes,’ were a delightful indulgence. Gooey, cheesy, and perfectly crunchy on the outside. The combination of creamy potatoes and melted cheese was a match made in food heaven, making this dish a crowd-pleaser.
However, it was the ‘two sheet lasagna verde bolognese’ that left me feeling somewhat disappointed. With high expectations set by the hype surrounding this dish, I was anticipating something extraordinary. Unfortunately, it fell short of the mark. The incorporation of spinach cooked into the noodles added an interesting twist to the traditional lasagna, providing a subtle earthy flavor and vibrant green hue to the dish. While it may not have been the showstopper I was hoping for, the unique take on a classic dish added a creative touch to the menu.
As for the ‘double cheeseburger,’ a must-try for any burger enthusiast like myself, it delivered a solid and satisfying experience. The flavors from the onions and dijonaise complemented the juicy patties and gooey cheese, creating a harmonious blend of savory goodness. While it may not have been the best burger I’ve ever had, it was a reliable choice with all the classic elements you’d expect from a well-executed cheeseburger.
While some dishes may fall short of the high expectations set by the hype, the restaurant’s commitment to creative flavors and quality ingredients shines through in its menu offerings!
