The Pie

This weekend, I revisited The Pie in Port Jefferson after a while, recalling fond memories of it being one of my favorite spots. It was even my choice for a birthday dinner once. However, this time around, the experience was meh.

We started with two appetizers from the specials board: Mac & Cheese Bites and Meatball Sliders. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese bites were a letdown. The noodles were undercooked, almost hard to bite, and lacked the expected cheesy flavor. Even the accompanying sauce failed to elevate them. On the other hand, the meatball sliders garnered good reviews from my friends, although I found the garlic knot they came with to be hard and not as fresh as I had hoped.

Moving on to the main course, I opted for the Baby Bella and Margarita pizzas. These dishes were a redemption of sorts. The pizzas were delicious, with a noticeable freshness that reminded me of why I loved this place in the past. The flavors were spot-on, and each bite was a delight.

I chose the tiramisu for dessert, which provided a satisfying conclusion to the meal. It was well-balanced, creamy, and had just the right amount of sweetness. While the appetizers didn't quite meet the mark, the pizzas and dessert showcased the restaurant's potential for delivering flavorful and enjoyable dishes.
